Sustainability: Students learn how our use of resources impacts health, quality of life, our own communities and others around the world. Students gain a deeper understanding of sustainability and investigate how other countries have introduced sustainable practices through interactive presentations from Global Guides. Past topics have included green architecture projects, urban planning, urban farming, recycling and water conservation efforts.
Global Lives: Students explore art, religion, culture, and traditions from around the world.Through hands-on activities, students not only gain a greater understanding of others’ cultures, but also a greater appreciation of their own.
Water: Access to clean water is a vital issue that people from around the world are working together to address. This unit engages students to explore and learn about their use of water and learn about different perspectives on this issue from Global Guides from around the world.
Social Action: This program encourages students to explore what causes social change, and to reflect on how they can make a difference in their community. Global Guides share their international perspectives and experiences of social action, and work alongside students to help the students develop their own social action project.
Investigating Conflicts: This unit addresses the movements, conceptions, and personal stories of conflict and peace in countries all over the world throughout history and in current news. Global Guides present topics on independence, revolutions, social liberties, civil war, conflict resolutions and the impact these movements have on communities and individuals.
Teen World: Through this program, students discover teens around the world often face similar challenges in discrimination, bullying, coming-of-age and dealing with pressures from friends, family and school. Global Guides share their stories and personal perspectives on current issues in their countries, encouraging students to reflect on their own lives.
Global Careers: This program provides the opportunity for students to meet with unique, successful international role models from a variety of careers. Global Guides share their international perspectives and experiences in their professional and academic fields with the students, giving them a better understanding of the steps they took in their career path.
